BDO has the most detailed character customization system

Most people who have heard of BDO likely came across it when developer Pearl Abyss opened it up for public preview. As anyone who played around with it can attest, the customization here is impressive beyond the norm: from limb length to hair style to facial features, just about everything about your avatar can be customized in beautiful (or gruesome) detail. On the downside, there's a certain amount of limitation cooked into the customization insofar as classes are gender-locked - no male Valkyries here, and no female warriors.

That's somewhat mitigated by the decent customization of the classes themselves, but it will be an issue for those used to greater choices. As I mentioned before, the character creation system goes above and beyond what you usually see in MMOs by allowing you to edit almost every single feature of your character, down to individual parts of their body. I prefer to cover myself in armor so I didn't spend too long fiddling with the character creator but I did manage to make my knight look like Prince Charming, the touchiest man in all the lands with a constant shit-eating grin on his face.

Once you've decided on a class, you can customize your character in detail. In addition to your appearance, which includes body type, hairstyle, and other features like tattoos, you can also choose your character's outfit from among several different options for each class. On top of all this, different astrological constellations can grant your character specific qualities, which will also affect his or her nature. I should also mention here that each class is assigned a specific gender - Wizards are always male, Sorcerers always female, for example.

Overall, the options for character creation are pretty impressive, and more creative players will have lots of room for experimenting with different builds and appearances. I don't know why I decided to do that but given how many times he almost brought me to tears from laughter I'd say it was more than worth it. You're now on an Island to the very north, which has rich flora and faun enveloped by rocky surroundings. Even though the Island isn't that big, it is still worth spending time exploring, given one is not on a farm frenzy.

The main problem with Black Desert Online is that it's nothing interesting and it's nothing new. It joins the ranks of Eastern MMOs like Aion and ArchAge that whilst perfectly competent just don't do anything new or exciting. It's just another MMO. And the issue with just another MMO is that if I just wanted to play some kind of MMO I'd go back to World of Warcraft or Guildwars 2. The end game of Black Desert Online could be what the game will eventually rely on upon release but compared to other similar MMOs it isn't touting amazing end game features such as player-owned villages, raids or other gimmicks.

Black Desert Online (BDO) is an open world action MMORPG with next generation visuals and skill based combat that aims to rejuvenate the genre. Black Desert Online has the most detailed character customization system of any game that is currently on the market. This feature allows for unprecedented detailed character creation. Its intuitive controls, beautifully designed world and extensive lore should excite both newcomers and veterans of MMO games and action RPG's in general.
